COMMUNITY GROUPS

Presentations and workshops for groups and organisations, to promote discussion of childhood games and raise awareness of children's play and folklore throughout the community.

The presentations can be as simple as a talk or as varied as a multi-media slide show. Talks can also be supported by an interesting collection of playthings, memorabilia and games, which are used to demonstrate change and continuity in children's play over time and place.

Some examples of previous involvement with community groups:

'This is not a playing area!': presentation to Play Australia members at inaugural session of 'Twilight Talks'
Children's Toys & Games in the Victorian era: presentation to the Ballarat Gold Museum Society
Creativity in Children's Play: Historical & Cultural Perspectives: Two-part presentation to Stonnington U3A
A Window on Childhood Games, presentation to Surrey Hills Historical Society
• A display of children's games and playthings for the Bayside Rotary Inner Wheel Club's Friendship Day
Play Today, a brief presentation as a member of the panel for the Open Forum on Play, National Folk Festival 2008
• Organising a program for local schoolchildren, with Koori presenters, for Stonnington Reconciliation Group
